If you use Magnesium Oil regularly, you might have noticed something interesting.
Some days you spray it on and barely feel a thing.
Other days?
The itch and tingle is real!
It’s something we’ve noticed over years of using Magnesium Oil — and something we hear from customers too.
The tingling can seem to come and go, and often people notice it more during times of increased activity, stress, tiredness or when they’ve simply been asking more from their body.
So what might be going on?
First, our Magnesium Oil is highly concentrated.
That means a little goes a long way.
If you’re new to Magnesium Oil, you may notice a tingling sensation when you first start using it. For many people, this becomes less noticeable with regular use.
That’s why we recommend starting low + slow and finding what feels comfortable for your skin.
Why might the tingle come back?
This is where it gets interesting.
You may find that you’ve been happily using Magnesium Oil without much sensation and then, seemingly out of nowhere, the tingle is back.
Take a moment to check in.
Have you been exercising more?
Has life been particularly stressful or full?
Are you feeling run down?
Has your recovery kept pace with what you’ve been asking from your body?
Over the years, we’ve heard many people notice stronger tingling during periods when they’re placing greater demands on their bodies.
At Hide + Soak, we believe these changes are worth noticing.
Could your body be asking for more magnesium?
Magnesium plays an important role throughout the body, and our magnesium levels aren’t necessarily the same at every stage of life.
Diet, health and other factors can all influence the magnesium levels in our body.
We’ve also observed that some people report more tingling from Magnesium Oil during periods of increased stress or activity.
Our belief is that increased tingling can be one of the little signs worth paying attention to when your body may be asking for more magnesium and recovery.
It’s important, though, not to use tingling alone as a diagnosis of magnesium deficiency.
Think of it as information rather than a test.
Notice it. Get curious. Look at the bigger picture.
Sometimes, it really is just your skin
There’s another very simple reason Magnesium Oil can tingle:
Your skin.
Freshly shaved, dry, irritated or broken skin can make Magnesium Oil feel much more intense.
And anyone who’s accidentally sprayed Magnesium Oil onto freshly shaved legs probably knows exactly what we’re talking about.
So before reading too much into the sensation, consider where you’ve applied it and what’s happening with your skin too.
What should you do if Magnesium Oil tingles?
Keep it simple.
Start with 2–3 sprays on the soles of your feet and massage it in.
If you’re new to Magnesium Oil or find the sensation strong, the feet are a great place to begin.
If it’s still uncomfortable, use less or dilute your Magnesium Oil with a little water.
Then build up gradually as you learn what works for your body and your skin.
As always, listen to your body.
There’s no single rule for exactly how Magnesium Oil should feel.
Some days you may barely notice it.
Other days you might feel that familiar tingle.
Instead of immediately deciding what that sensation means, use it as an opportunity to check in.
What have you been asking from your body lately?
Maybe you’ve been moving more.
Maybe life has been particularly full.
Maybe you’ve had less time for recovery.
Or maybe your skin is simply more sensitive today.
Notice the pattern.
Adjust what you’re doing.
And as always, listen to your body.
Because sometimes the first step is simply noticing what it’s telling you.
