There’s something I’ve been noticing more and more lately — both in myself, and in the women I speak to.
A lot of us are doing all the right things.
We’re using magnesium.
We’re running baths.
We’re trying to prioritise rest, sleep, and better habits.
And yet…
we still feel rushed.
On edge.
Like we’re constantly pushing through the day instead of moving with it.
If that’s you, I want you to know this first:
You’re not doing self-care wrong.
If You’re Doing “All the Right Things” But Still Feel Stressed
When self-care doesn’t seem to land, it’s easy to assume we need to try harder, be more consistent, or add another tool to the mix.
But often, the issue isn’t what you’re doing -
it’s the state your body is in while you’re doing it.
When the body is living in urgency, even supportive practices can struggle to make a meaningful difference.
Survival Mode and the Feeling of Constant Urgency
Survival mode doesn’t always look dramatic.
Often, it shows up quietly as:
-
feeling like everything is urgent
-
moving from one thing to the next without pause
-
finding it hard to fully rest, even when you stop
-
carrying tension you can’t quite shake
In this state, the body is always preparing - scanning for what’s next, what needs doing, what might go wrong.
And when that’s happening, urgency becomes the default setting.
Why Magnesium and Other Tools Need the Right Environment
Magnesium is an incredibly supportive tool. It works beautifully with the body to support relaxation, sleep, muscle release, and overall calm.
But magnesium doesn’t work in isolation.
If your system is constantly braced - moving fast, holding tension, living in urgency - the body stays in protection mode. From there, even the best tools can feel like they’re only helping a little.
It’s not because the tools don’t work.
It’s because the body hasn’t yet had the chance to soften enough to receive them fully.
This Isn’t a Mindset Issue — It’s a Body State
This part matters.
This isn’t about positive thinking.
It’s not about forcing yourself to relax.
And it’s definitely not about doing more.
It’s about recognising that the body leads.
When the body begins to feel safe enough to settle, things start to shift naturally:
-
rest becomes restorative
-
sleep feels deeper
-
decisions feel clearer
-
urgency loosens its grip
This is where flow replaces force.
A Holistic Approach to Self-Care That Actually Supports Real Life
This is why I always talk about self-care as a whole-system experience.
Magnesium is the foundation — the physical support that helps the body downshift.
But it works best alongside:
-
simple breath practices
-
more supportive sleep rhythms
-
intentional transitions between busy moments
-
small, repeatable pauses that fit into real life
Nothing complicated.
Nothing overwhelming.
Just gentle, consistent support for a body that’s been carrying a lot.
Why I Created the 5-Week Self-Care Reset
And this is exactly why I created my 5-Week Self-Care Reset.
It’s built around magnesium as the foundation,
with simple practices for sleep, breath, and daily rhythm -
so your tools can actually do their work.
This isn’t about fixing yourself.
And it’s not about slowing life down to a crawl.
It’s about creating enough steadiness in the body that life no longer feels like something you have to survive.
This is the reset I return to myself when things start to feel full, rushed, or heavy - and it’s something I move through alongside the women who join.
If this feels familiar, you’re not behind.
You’re just ready for a more supportive way forward.
